- Perform comprehensive eye exams to assess visual acuity and detect any ocular abnormalities or diseases.
- Prescribe corrective lenses or other vision aids as needed.
- Diagnose and treat various eye conditions, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries.
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices and answer any questions or concerns they may have.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records of patient visits and treatments.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as ophthalmologists and opticians, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in optometry practices and technologies.
Requirements:
- Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited optometry school.
- Valid state license to practice optometry.
- Strong knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and diseases.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems, such as Epic.
- Familiarity with medical coding and billing procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and make sound clinical judgments.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Experience with aseptic technique for maintaining a sterile environment during procedures.
- Ability to perform basic vital signs measurements.
