Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity and detect any abnormalities or diseases - Diagnose and treat various eye conditions, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration - Prescribe and fit corrective lenses or contact lenses based on patients' visual needs - Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries - Educate patients on proper eye care practices and answer any questions or concerns they may have - Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as ophthalmologists and opticians, to ensure coordinated patient care - Maintain accurate and detailed medical records of all patient interactions
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited optometry program - Valid state license to practice optometry - Strong knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and pathology - Familiarity with medical terminology and coding systems - Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems and maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations - Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals - Ability to perform basic optical procedures, such as fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses - Understanding of aseptic technique to maintain a sterile environment during certain procedures Note:
